PVC in the construction and demolition sectors
Goal
To demonstrate that PVC can be recycled and reused repeatedly and has a sustainable future
Scheme partners
The scheme is funded by VinylPlus, the voluntary commitment to sustainable development by the European PVC Industry (originally funded through the Vinyl 2010 initiative).
Scheme overview
A Europe-wide initiative running in 16 countries linking PVC recycling facilities with firms in the construction and demolition sectors who need to dispose of post-consumer PVC. Participating recyclers sort materials and log volumes.
Our services
As Recovinyl’s UK agents, our services include:
- Managing the network of accredited recycling companies
- Providing a phone helpline for businesses looking for outlets for PVC
- Auditing figures for collection volumes
- Attending trade shows and events
Successes
Over 23 recycling companies have signed up to the scheme across the UK, giving window and building companies easy access to PVC recycling. Since we took on the scheme in 2005, the volume of PVC accepted by members has increased from 8,000 tonnes to 117,000 tonnes.
