Key facts for buyers

Polymer format

Axpoly® recycled polypropylene is an extruded compound made with a strand pelletizer to yield regular cylindrical pellets of approximately 3mm L x 2 mm D.

Packaging formats

There are three packaging options for despatch and delivery:

  1. Standard format
Woven polyester ‘big bags’ with fork lift carry loops and internal stabilising panels, mounted on a strong pallet base for reliable transport by road haulage or container shipment. Nominal 1 tonne capacity, varies with polymers type and density.
  2. 25 kilo valve sacks
Heavy duty polythene sacks, stacked up to 40 per pallet load. Can be shrink wrapped for extra stability. Please request when ordering.
  3. Bulk tanker
Up to 25 tonnes delivered in road tanker fitted with pneumatic unloading fan and pipework. For shipment into silos. Available on request.

Stock availability

Up to 5 tonnes of standard grades are usually available from stock and can be delivered within 2-3 days (UK). Larger quantities and full-load volumes are made to order. Forward orders can be scheduled for guaranteed availability and fixed pricing. Check with our Sales Order team on +44 161 426 7731 or email sales@axionpolymers.com

Polymer properties

All our standard grades have stable and consistent properties controlled under our ISO9001 processing system. Please see individual product information sheets for the defined properties of each grade.

Grades

We offer a range of standard grades across both general purpose and more specialised applications where increased strength, stiffness and melt flow is required. We can also modify Axpoly® polypropylene properties on request, and will work with you to benchmark exactly the right formulation for the intended application.

Axpoly® PP51 1000 – standard general purpose

Axpoly® PP51 1000 is an extremely consistent, reliable and dimensionally-stable general purpose moulding grade. It is particularly suitable for construction products, and is the plastic of choice for one of the UK’s major pipe manufacturers.

Axpoly® PP51 1004 – enhanced general purpose

Axpoly® PP51 1004 includes improver additives, giving an improved finish suitable for household and consumer goods.

Talc-filled polypropylene grades

Our talc-filled polypropylene grades are suitable for applications needing a higher density material with greater stiffness, such as automotive components. An example is our medium range talc-filled grade Axpoly® PP51 1025. This is a 30% talc-filled black copolymer polypropylene resin. Other fill percentages are also available

High flexural modulus polypropylene grades

Our high flexural modulus polypropylene grades can withstand constantly applied top loads over a long period of time. They are therefore ideal for applications where the polymer will be subject to ongoing compression. An example customer use is for packing cages for underground water attenuation tanks in car park drainage systems.

An example of a high flexural modulus grade is Axpoly® PP51 1032.

High melt flow polypropylene grades

Axpoly® high melt flow polypropylene grades help to avoid short-shot problems and get good results in moulds with complicated flow-paths or thin walls. These grades are perfect for products such as narrow ventilation grids and horticultural trays.

An example of a high melt flow polypropylene grade is Axpoly® PP51 1008.
